Homelab
Homelabbing was a whole new concept for me, a completely new IT territory for me to explore. This is my homelabbing journey.
Home server - version 1
The first version of my Home Server was built using a Raspberry Pi 8GB. I've used an old PC case, to which I added 2x Seagate Barracuda 3TB disks, connected to the RPi via USB to SATA adapters. I decided to go with a Meanwell PSU to make sure there is no power issues with the server. I've settled on installing OpenMediaVault as the current OS. I later added Portainer to manage my docker containers. This was my introduction to homelabbing.
I've soon found myself using Jellyfin, the *arr stack, Grafana and Prometheus for statistics, and multiple other containers and services.
Home server - version 2
Components and supplies
- Asrock B660M-HDV
- Intel Core i3-13100
- MSI Geforce GTX 1660 Gaming X (Windows VM)
- 2x Toshiba MG08 16TB
This is my new home server which runs on Proxmox. Inside Proxmox, I virtualize a Debian VM for Docker containers, TrueNAS for storage and a Windows 11 VM with GPU passthrough for testing.
